Sunset Tire & Auto Repair – Brakes & More
Over priced, slow, and deceiving. I went in for a tire patch. They said it would be 5 mins and he'd even put it back on for me. I recieved and approved a quote for $24. After waiting for 25 minutes my car was ready and the final bill was $56. They charged an additional $22 to "put it back on and put the spare away". Overall was triple the price of competitors, slower than promised and lied about the price initially.
Zachary thank you for sharing what happened. I’m truly sorry your visit didn’t reflect the care most of our clients experience. I spent time going through everything because I wanted to understand it from your point of view as well as ours 💛 Situation #1: “deceiving” It was an extremely busy day, Flor, my office admin, wanted to help rather than turn you away with a future appt. She removed a tech from another vehicle to at least take a quick look and air the tire so you weren’t driving away unsafe. Tech found a nail sitting extremely close to the edge. That area carries more stress so if something pierces close to it the tire can lose air rapidly or blow out! The tech suggested a temporary ‘quick’ repair so you had something safe to get you through until replacement. Situation #2: “They said it would be 5 minutes” Tech used a common phrase “we could take care of it fairly quickly” but I agree the wording did not reflect the accurate timing. Simply driving a vehicle into the bay and setting it on the hoist properly takes almost 5min. I spoke with all staff because even though this phrase is common the intention is to avoid giving clients unrealistic promises. That is not what we aim for. Situation #3: “They charged extra to put it back on and put the spare away” & “I approved $24 and they ended up charging $56” Flor misunderstood the fee structure and thought there was a separate charge for reinstalling the tire. I’m very strict about transparency and only charging what you approve digitally because I would NOT like to approve one amount and get charged another. I’m very against this and this misunderstanding was a lesson for my staff, even if we misquoted we cannot charge not a penny more than the digital approval. You are correct, you approved $32 and ended up paying $57.39 and for this reason I have refunded the full amount for this frustration and inconvenience. Everyone had a good intention a however I spoke with my team about slowing down, communicating clearly, and avoiding assumptions even when the intention is good. Good intentions don’t always translate into a good experience, and that’s on me to repair. What we offered that day was sincere effort and genuine care, and sometimes that’s the real truth beneath the noise 💛✨ ~Maricela V., Owner
